Transhumanism (abbreviated as Humanity+ or H+) is an international intellectual movement that aims to transform the human condition by developing and making widely available sophisticated technologies to greatly enhance human intellect and physiology
Transhumanist thinkers study the potential benefits and dangers of new and developing technologies that could overcome fundamental human limitations and ethical limitations of using such technologies. The most common transhumanist thesis is that human beings may eventually be able to transform themselves into different beings with abilities so greatly expanded from the natural condition as to merit the label of posthuman beings.
A common feature of transhumanism and philosophical posthumanism is the future vision of a new intelligent species, into which humanity will evolve and eventually will supplement or supersede it. Transhumanism stresses the evolutionary perspective, including sometimes the creation of a highly intelligent animal species by way of cognitive enhancement.
While many transhumanist theorists seek to apply reason, science and technology for the purposes of reducing poverty, disease, disability and malnutrition around the world, transhumanism is distinctive in its particular focus on the applications of technologies to the improvement of human bodies at the individual level. Many transhumanists assess the potential for future technologies and innovative social systems to improve the quality of all life, while seeking to make the material reality of the human condition fulfill the promise of legal and political equality by eliminating mental and physical barriers.
Zen and the Art of Transhumanism is a cyberpunk pottery game about improving the human race through technology.
